I've been checking some laptops and have spotted a couple of candidate replacements...

Dabs has deals going on this...the Hp can be had for about £700 inc. VAT. I think its the same one that one of my client's loaned me to access their VPN.
The Lenovo is about £590...and will do the job nicely as well.

      Any opinions.
I'm way out of date in terms of specs so couldn't really help there, but I've owned three ThinkPads so far and they've all been superb. Aside from one drive failure nothing's ever gone wrong, they seem far sturdier than your average laptop and they look like a proper piece of kit instead of something shiny and sparkly that gets covered in fingerprints.

Suggest cheaper one you did not .

Another thumbs up for Lenovo, mine has quite a hard life, and has survived many knocks, including being dropped from about 2ft.
