Ever faked a Death in the Family to get out of a Contract?
A friend of mine (non-contractor) told me about a contractor where he works who rang into client telling him that his step brother had died and he wouldn't know when he woud be back in work. It was no secret that he was known by colleagues to hate the gig and would constantly complain about the travel....

What is the best excuse you have used to get out of a contract immediately?
Advice pleaseI . I'm a week into a 3 month gig and I've realised I've been done 'good and proper. ' In the client interview I was told I'd have 'to travel' down to their Edinburgh office to see my team but not 'every week' , 150 miles away. Yet on the first day of starting my Lead basically said...

Two and a half months into a 10 month contract I've just been given the news that I'be been served...Last edited by Willy Win; 26 March 2017, 15:22.

What is the General View on Leaving A Contract Early With Notice?
I am 2 months into a 6 month contract (renewed after having done 3 months). The rates ok but the work I have moved onto doing has not turned out to be what I was expecting, as well as being pulled into another 'project' that is tulip. I've never pulled out of a contract before but this time I want...

Permie Trying To Off-load Unwanted Work - Time To Walk
After being offered a further extension following a decent 3 month stint to work on a different project, this took about a month to really kick off. In the interim whilst there was a lull I agreed to fill in and support on dealing with/fielding new IT requests, completely different to my contract as...Last edited by Willy Win; 5 October 2016, 05:14.

2 weeks into contract - can I invoke notice of termination and not work the term?
I'm two weeks into a 6 month contract which I'm not at all happy with and want to terminate (notice period is 1 month from me). As I want to be fully available for pursuing other contracts, am I legally able to give notice of termination to agency (whom my contract is with) but then not go on site/...
