Dunno your niche, but 400 is pretty decent for BA gigs in Edinburgh. And for in Scotland as a whole for that matter, unless as I say, you have some sort of niche specialism to call on. If you're looking at that as a bottom line, you're likely going to have to go south to maintain/improve on the rate, with the attendant hike in expenses. Have a trawl on Jobserve - i've just been through my saved searches for a BA role and the market seems pretty crap at the moment with 350 to 450 being the range and weighted at the lower end of that. Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds would likely be the nearest places after Glasgow. Lots of financial services opportunities around there, but a couple of hours travel away and you'd need to factor in some accommodation costs.

Good luck - only you can make the decision to jump, and there are other factors than cash to take into consideration too

Climb as high as you can until you get made redundant. Take your cheque then go contracting at that level rather than a lower level. The second contract is generally the hardest to get.

Is going contracting a good move for me?

    Hey guys,

I have been a perm Business Analyst for 7 years now across different sectors. No kids (yet), wife in full time job, small mortgage.

Currently I am on 45K in Edinburgh, got offered £400 p/day for initial contact of 9 months. I am not going to lie, I am sh*ting my pants a bit cause it would be leaving a safe "nest" for something a bit more crazy.

    Any advice please?

Working...
