I have some experience. My latest interactive infographic used html5/css5/javascript/flash and other technologies as well as in photoshop or illustrator.
In my opinion, making infographics is an art that requires knowledge from different fields - such graphics or ability to analyze and interpret data. it all depends on the type of data that need to be present. Infographics can be interactive and there are a lot of libraries and tools that can be used.

Yeah, graphics in Excel are pretty easy plus there are zillions of tutorials out there.
Go for it!

Have had a play this morning - the online free infographic site didn't give me the flexibility in displaying the data in a chart how I wanted it to, so i turned to excel ! Got the data into a chart, just need to pimp it up a bit now to look less excel like.

The data i want to represent is for a marketing thing, not technical so i thought that the infographic would be better suited.
I've never done any graphs in excel , so would be starting there from scratch also. Thought I'd jump straight into an infographic.
Think I'll try a freebie site, and if it ends up looking like a 5 year old's done it, I'll look to outsource ...

I'm fairly good at this type of thing because photography is my hobby and I've dabbled with AV shows and good at photoshop. Once you progress from pretty excel charts you should really be looking at some sort of graphic designer/advertising agency type to tart it up.

Does it HAVE to be infographics? it is usually not that effective with conveying information...
Just plot a nice graph, add sensible colors, maybe animate over time etc

Infographics
Anyone ever created an Infographic? I need to have a go at creating one to "visually bring some data to life" which is currently in a spreadsheet - hopefully to show the comparison of functionality for a few bits of software.
There seem a number of sites out there, from free, to pay monthly, to pay to get someone else to do it.
Any experiences with doing this ?Tags: None
