    I've checked on my copy of System rescue CD, there's also the "shred" and 'wipe' tool:
    Code:
    shred -v  /dev/sdX
    Shred uses uses by default 25 overwriting passes. Wipe uses by default 35 overwriting passes.

    One thing to take in consideration is that if there's a Windows swap file on a shared partition, that should also be wiped out.

    where 'sdX' is the disk as identified by 'dmesg'.

    Warning: it might take hours. I once wiped a 16GB memory card clean and it took about an hour.

    Eraser - Secure deletion tool

    Anyone used this GNU Licenced secure deletion tool.

    Look for something to WIPE an hdd or 2 and this seems to do the trick.
