I tried a install of Sharepoint, not Sharepoint Services which comes with Windows Server. And even on a 4GB machine it wouldn't run at all. Hope you have big machine.

Hi BoredBloke. A virtual amchine should work fine. You might have to tinker with the memory and cpu allocation, but it works fine on my mac book air.

When you do the install there are a couple of options. One is a full install linking to a separate SQL server. The other installs a lite SQl data base and uses that for its back end. It is ideal for tinkering, learning etc.

    Setup Sharepoint

Looking for a bit of advice. I need to do some work with Sharepoint and would like to set it up on my home machine. I have the software but was wondering waht is the best way to install it. It will be going on my laptop. Would it be best to do it via a virtual machine?

    Thanks in advance
