    There's a whole bunch of stuff in a JPEG file which the app may be looking for.

    Well it's a valid jpeg file, if that's what you wanted to know.

    Why don't you try opening it on your Win7 machine, doing a "Save As" to overwrite it with itself, same filename, and see if it then works?

    Anything that "listens" in a directory is likely waiting for filenames to arrive and is unlikely to be sensitive to what's in it. For example, take a text file, rename it to .JPG and see if that works.

    I did notice that the filename is not 8+3 so could that be something to do with it?

    The app was purchased, I've tried Jpeg, JPEG and Jpg with no result. (I've also sent the developer the file but he hasn't got back to me yet, so I thought I'd ask the assembled brains of cuk)

    I've got an app which "listens" to a directory on my pc and when a jpeg arrives it fires up a sub app.

    Now this works with a jpeg from a windows 7 machine, but not with one created on an xp laptop, anyone have any clues?

    Here is one which doesn't get detected
