Check it isnt your IP Profile that has dropped too....do a BT Speedtest here Test Result This gives you the IP profile...if it's dropped, get onto your ISP.
If not, keep it plugged into the BT socket and keep quiet. lol

BT Filtered NTE5 faceplate thingy.
My broadband had been tulipe for sometime so finally last year, bit the BT bullet and got a broadband engineer out to check 'their' side of the NTE 5.
He said he couldnt find a fault although replaced the copper twin because they were trapped behind the outside box. He also fitted BT's own filtered faceplate at the same time. These simple acts co incided with my speed jumping from under 5meg to over 7 (which is supposed to be magnificent since Im 1.7km from the exchange
).
BT then sent me a bill for nearly 200 smackers saying the engineer (who had foul smelling breath I might add
) didnt find a fault. Anyway, I contested it and they eventually waived the fee.
Now then, in the last few days my download speed has crashed from 6.9meg to 4.6, 3.8, 2.02 to today's 918kbps!
So I gets on to them again and they say to change the router, unplug any sky boxes etc, etc and change the filter. When I point out a filtered faceplate was fitted 6 months ago by them, they said do it cos we need to know if its your equipment else we'll charge you 200 quid to investigate any 'fault.'
Well, I just removed the filtered face plate, plugged an 'ordinary' filter in and the speed has shot up to 6.9meg again. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Can these filtered faceplate thingies go faulty in 6 months? They are solid state and there's no water or anything getting on it.Last edited by BolshieBastard; 12 June 2012, 11:50.Tags: None
