Best trackball for right hand is this one:

They are no longer made by Microsoft and attract high price on ebay.

This one is available and pretty good for left hand:

The first one is the best though - the ball is perfectly positioned.

Logitech M570 trackball

Not sure if anyone else is a fan of trackballs over mice.

Got one of these for Christmas and very pleased I am with it too.

Was concerned as was quite a bit smaller than my old trackball, but actually a really comfortable fit.
