Gmail can do it. Within Gmail, go Settings --> Labs, scroll down and enable "Inserting images". This allows inline images to be uploaded and added to the message body.

I started a new message, and switched to HTML mode (which I presume is needed).
Then I opened an image on a local disk in Internet Explorer, clicked ctrl+C on that and ctrl+V in the message.
But all I get (in Hotmail and Yahoo mail) is a blank "frame", and that's all I see when I send the email to myself.
Why the flip does it have to be so _cumbersome_? Why not be able to select a locally stored image in Windows Explorer for example, instead of faffing around having to upload the image to the web (which I'm not prepared to do each time), or just have a drop down window one can browse directly to a local image ?!
You may need to save the image as a .png file before trying to embed it into the emal.

Online email service that supports embedded images
I recently switched to the new Yahoo web mail interface and, although it is a bit slicker, it still doesn't seem to support embedded images in emails I compose (although it has no trouble displaying them in emails I receive).
As two or three people email me "funnies" every now and then, I'd like to reciprocate, and it looks lame and second-rate to have to attach images!
So does anyone know of a web-based email service that allows one to embed images in emails?
I also have a gmail email addres; but I don't think that supports embedded images either.
