+1 for RStudio. I used it at a ClientCo a while back and performed well.

For windows, NTFS partitions: NTFS Undelete — free, easy to use undelete software
For windows, FAT32 partitions: FileRestorePlus - Easily undelete, unerase, and recover deleted files
For linux, EXT3 partitions (unmount your partition first): Downloads - ext3grep - Project Hosting on Google Code

Have used 'Recuva' (free) which was of some use and did get some files back. Not all were recovered though as I had left my laptop running for a while and files were overwritten.

No free ones. And turn the machine off that you deleted the files from now in case they get overwritten...
Had good success in the past with Active Undelete in the past:
Active@ UNDELETE Software to recover deleted files folders & partitions. Windows XP VISTA 2003 2008.

Recovering deleted files
Can anyone suggest a good program to recover files that have been deleted off a PC?
I seem to remember that Norton Utilities did the job back in the day....
Oh, and any free ones?Tags: None
