    I highly recommend an addon called Tax Mix Plus that lets you configure all sorts of things to do with tabs. Its very good.

    Type about:config in the address bar. Do a search for tabs and you should find the setting there. Firefox hides a lot of useful stuff in there but you can bugger things up a bit if you don't know what you're doing.

    Firefox tabs

    I'm not a regular FF user so thought I would ask.

    If I am on the BBC News website and right click a link and on the menu select "Open Link in New Tab", the tab opens next to the current open tab (BBC News website) and not at the end of all of my tabs.

    Is there a way I can get it to open at the end of all of my tabs?

    In Opera, there is a setting called "Open New Tab Next to Active" which can be de-selected but I can't see a similar option in FF - I'm sure there used to be.
