similar things are done in SSMS ctrl+x does the same thing but cuts
ctrl+v can then be used to paste into the line below without having to go to the end of the line and press enter first

Only discovered this a month ago by accident. In Visual Studio (at least in the versions I'm using 2008/10), if you click anywhere on a line of code and do CTRL-C, it copies the entire line to the buffer.

True. A former colleague put a line feed into his prompt to get around that. Waste of screen real estate in my opinion.

But where it does come in useful is for copying commands out of documentation or a script.

This won't solve your problem but its still worth having a look at:
ClipboardFusion 2.0.0 Released!

It works quietly in the background adding a bit of extra functionality to the clip board.

I dont even know what that means!

Try Shift + End (or Shift + Home if you are at the end of a line).

is this possible? I know ctrl-A selects eveything but is there a command that just selects the current line?
