It's a common problem with mobile broadband - thousands of connections are NAT'ed to a handful of IPs. If you have one abusive user and the IP gets blocked the service can be interrupted for all the other users. Sometimes when using google search on VF mobile broadband you'll get the "p*ss off, you're clearly a spam bot" message.
Try using Voda's own SMTP server for outgoing mail (I think it's send.vodafone.net or/and mail.vodafone.net)

Edited - just read it properly, so the SMTP box isn't allowing you to send at all, its not that other servers are refusing mail sent via your SMTP. I'd guess your leased IP appears on one of those lists then. People talking about auth etc - if it was that you'd generally see "unable to relay for..." type of messages.Last edited by Durbs; 11 March 2010, 18:44.

Edit:
Well, I say dongle, what I actually mean is mobile phone hooked up to my computer as a modem. I think this actually gets routed through a different network than dongles....

probably easiest option is to use your ISP's web email to send emails, some of
these allow you to specify reply to addresses and create different identities, so it looks like your company sent the email.

Try changing your email app to connect through port 587 instead of port 25.
A lot of ISP's now block port 25 unless you are connecting to their own email server to prevent hijacking spam.
I had exactly this problem with a Vodafone dongle, however it does rely on your email server accepting on port 587, which most seem to do now... It seems as though port 587 is becoming the 'standard' second SMTP port.

are you using the email account associated with your home/office ISP ?
you may need to use the smtp server of the mobile network provider for sending.
I have this issue with TalkTalk for example, and used the Vodafone SMTP server until I got a dedicated email server setup.
