Knoppix for dummies.

Try the Parted Magic distro if you playing with disk partition, very good bootable CD.

qtparted worked very well when I used it some years ago. I tried
"sudo apt-get install gparted" this week but it was not so good. In fact it trashed the XP partition when I changed the size. I did manage to revover it using my XP Super boot disk.

This will ony work if you've installed Knoppix to your hard drive which I don't think many people do as its primarily a live CD making it a bit difficult to install anything Also I don't believe that Knoppix is Debian based which means that apt won't be available but it is still possible to install applications by booting Knoppinx from CD and then using something like toram to load it into RAM and then using klik to install gparted to a USB drive or burn to a CD. Somewhere on the Knoppix site it tells you how to do this

apt should be available in Debian derivatives, such a Ubuntu.

EditEdit: still use the command line from above though, should work.

I downloaded Knoppix 6.2 primarily for the qtparted utility however the CD does not have it installed. I have download what appears to be the correct file in tar format.
Question? How do install it into Knoppix?
