A client of mine transfers a 1Gb zipped file of data to me every month, but this month he reports that the upload speed is EXTREMELY slow (50KB/s). I've just tried myself and also get the same speed.
I've normally been getting around 200KB/s so something has obviously changed in the last 3-4 weeks. I've rung my server hosting company and they've confirmed no issues at their end. I've tried a trace route from here (home office) to my FTP site and can't see any problems, so I'm not sure what I should try next. Speed tests on my home office line show a 528KB/s upload speed and 5.3MB/s download. I've now tried this at several time throughout the day but never get higher than 55KB/s. Tests to other FTP sites acheive the expected 200KB/s so I guess this puts my ISP out of the frame but does point the finger at the server hosting chaps.
