Had enough.
Ended up just getting black and white conversions, didn't matter if the grey scale encoding box was checked or not!
I bit the bullet and £40 later and some new software, I'm getting conversions done faster and with no hassle.
I didn't even need to set anything apart from input file and output file

for a 40 min TV show
Crappy quality was coming out at about 250mb, nice size but very blocky image
Good quality but huge files was about 3gb
I'll have a look at the presets tomorrow
Cheers

the ds doesn't have a handbrake but a footbreak & changing the pads on that one is a helluva job. *everything* has to come out to get there. may as well do that starter motor while you're at it. oh and the handbreak presets work fine for me too. what size are your crappy and "massive" ones?

Use the presets.Originally posted by Spacecadet View PostI'm trying to move some of my DVD collection on to harddrive
I can't seem to get handbrake set up properly though, the quality is either crap or the file size is massive. I can't seem to find the right balance.
Any tips from the best use of such software?
TIA
