If it is 2 years old and has only been lightly used then I'd send it back - presumably it can tell you how many pages it has printed in its life. It obviously wasn't up to the job it was intended. If that had been used in a small office then 4 toners could be got through in a few weeks.

Okay, installed new fuser today. Took about 30seconds...it just slides and snaps in to the back of the printer. Not sure why Samsung considers it a "non-customer servicable part".

Now I'm wondering what to do with the old one. I wonder if there are companies which will take it off me for some £.

Thanks, took a look in there. I saw a lot of threads...but very few with solutions. None for my printer anyway. Still an interesting read.

    I've got one of these:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HP-Color-Laser...item2a0221b22a

Been faultless so far, and its very easy to connect it to the network.
Can be a little bit noisy when used in an enclosed space (like a study or small office)

I've changed fusers on HP printers in my techie days in the past and it was pretty easy.

HP do a preventative maintenance kit which includes a fuser and rollers so used to change all of them at the same time - not sure if Samsung do a similar kit.

Obviously, make sure the printer has cooled down first!

Edit: It may prove cost effective to buy a second hand HP printer instead.

I use Samsung Laser and it's fine: SCX-4200.

A £100 printer from here is probably better than that Samsung.

Yeah, except that this is a £400+ unit - and the fuser is about £80. Agreed if it one of those £99 units, I'd just "bin it".

I'm trying to convince the wife that we should get a HP instead and perhaps I can repair this one later to keep as a backup.

It's probably cheaper to buy a new laser printer.

Note, Samsung are cheap but utter tulipe. Avoid.

It's pretty easy, just make sure you don't look at the laser beams...
