Thanks Durbs.
Anyone know roughly how much work this would be for a competent developer? A day? 2?

Sounds simple to me, just keep the keys in a table with a reference back to the parent product and a column to hold transaction ID Then when a book is purchased, that key is assigned the sale transaction ID and can be retrieved and mailed/displayed.
Would be right up my street and i develop and sell a couple of products designed for digital product sales but i do .NET, not PHP.Last edited by Durbs; 9 October 2009, 16:38.

E-Commerce Site - advice needed!
A friend of mine is re-vamping his e-commerce website, and needs some technical advice - the setup is as follows:- They sell ebooks, packaged using eBook Pro Business Edition.
- Essentially, this software packages the books as an .exe, which they make available for download.
- The software generates a list (up to 10,000) keys per book, which essentially consist of a username/password combo, which can be exported as a .csv.
- When the user passes through the payment gateway, they can be routed to a page that contains the .exe download, which isn't a problem. We'd like the page to also display the next available key to accompany the download.
- This info should also be emailed to the customer, along with some confirmation/marketing text.
Now, they sell many different types of ebook, each with their own set of keys/csv files.
I'm thinking they need a database, and a LAMP dev to stitch this together for them. The site is (as mentioned in a similar thread) a WordPress site, and they're considering using the WP cart plugin from instinct, as it's free.
How easy/difficult is this to piece together? For you PHP devs out there, is this straightforward? If anyone can advise I'd be very grateful. FYI, I am not a developer, it's been a loong time since I was at the code face, so keep it simple! Thanks in advance.
