os x on a PC?

Yeah I think that probably is the point. I'm going to see how I get on with Ubuntu first.

I have to say that now 8.10 has decent font rendering, I do quite like Ubuntu. It looks like it's finally getting to a level where it could be a serious alternative to Windows. This is why I was asking about cross-platform GUI toolkits as I don't think I want to be writing just Windows software anymore.

From what I've seen, OSX has some good things, like the multi pane file explorer. But it's hard to see what's going on sometimes, and seems to suffer from "hour-glass disease" even worse than Windows. I haven't used it in anger, but I imagine the gimmicks wear off pretty quickly.

Do it in a VM - Virtual Box is free and works great with Ubuntu.

Nah. Well maybe if you have something a bit specialist, but it seems both ATI and NVidia graphics cards are well supported, as are a load of network and sound cards:

And if you install in a VM, it doesn't matter so much what your hardware actually is.

Has anyone here installed OS X Leopard onto a PC? Is it worth doing?

I've seen guides for installing onto a Dell Mini 9 so I might have a go at doing that too. It will however require me buying a copy.....

The amount of time you'll spend trying to force it onto unsupported hardware could probably be better spent earning the cash to buy an apple

Out of curiosity what flavour did you get to install?

There are flavours? It's blue, what flavour is blue?

I'm sure a bit of google use would allow you to find the thing I found. All a bit illegal of course, but then so is installing OSX on anything without the world's most expensive badge.
