Sounds like Wilmslow has fooked up and instructed the tester to do something stupid.
Now just trying to sort it out before his boss finds out.......

umm...but if there are 2 screens shouldn't he have 2 tests, thus hitting that magic proportion of 1 expected result per test?Originally posted by Wilmslow View PostThere are two screens - one expected result per screen.

oh no do the poor dears have to hit ctrl+c and ctrl+v 15000 times each.... Let's be generous and give then 2 seconds for each key press..
Still easily done in 2 days. Somebody needs to grow some balls and tell them to shut up and do it now or they aren't getting paid!!!Last edited by Ardesco; 11 September 2008, 09:50.

Consultants to copy and paste. Genius! Name and shame!Originally posted by Wilmslow View PostThat is 500 scripts, around 30 steps per script.
He is playing hard ball - quoting 30 weeks to get this imported. As from a large consultancy they are trying to blag an extra resource at clients expense.
Personally, I think that they should either:
1. JFDI, there are two of them, they could lick this in a week.
2. Speak to their superiors, and get some poor office admin temp to get it sorted.
As a seasoned permie, I am wanting contractors to take headaches away from me, not to give me any more!
obviously you know they are ripping the p*sh. Sack em and get a £7 an hour temp to do it.

Tedious work, but serves him right for being a twat in the first place...

There are two screens - one expected result per screen.Originally posted by thunderlizard View PostHow come there are 2 expected results per test? Is the first one the pass/fail, and then the software gets an extra merit mark if it passes the second one too?
I'm no testing expert, but surely that's fundamentally naffed up!
What amazed me is that the author asked me to customize Quality Center to cope with his two expected results!!

Not heard of Sendkeys - will take a google. Thanks.Originally posted by TonyEnglish View PostIf you can do this manually why not use sendkeys? Okay, here goes......Originally posted by chef View Postare you simply taking 2 table cells in word and wanting to merge them into 1 via automation?
how are you retrieving the data in the first place to the template?
The test scripts in Word are manual scripts all using the same template. As the Word upload to QC is a pile of kack, we are then copying and pasting into Excel, and then using the mappings to upload to QC using the add-on utility.
Word keeps hanging every time we tried it, so, we are sticking to Excel.
Therefore, two sets of sutomation would be fantasia....
1. Merge the two expected results into the one, in the Word test scripts
2. An easy way to copy and paste from Word to Excel template ripe and ready for the upload into QC.
The main sticking point is getting two cells in word merged for all tests, and not having to do this manually for all several thousand steps.
I did think of using the utility mapping into QC, ,but, when you allocate the mapping, it loses the option of re-using it.
