Sage is basically a front end to MS Access. You should be able to dive in there directly and get what you need.

Fran mate - I've seen (not implemented) what you are after but with Sage 50/100. Why don't you talk to Sage?
Could be worth your while. Couple of weeks work at least.

Not sure how Sage works but what about upgrades, future releases etc. Will the client have to get the 3rd party software updated at XX expense every time?
