I put the free v8 on a Win 2K box and the Update manager is permanently disabled. I can start it from the cmd line but it won't stay up within the program gui.

The pop ups are very infrequent

Installed it on DiabloNet a week ago, seems to be ok. No pop ups, though I've noticed it adds AVG page safety type ratings when you do a Google search.

A lot of people I know use Avast..

I use Avast. Can't complain about it at all. Works on 64bit OS too (not sure about avg these days; didn't have a 64bit version a while back)

I've got avg version 8 installed , without any problems.

Runs just as well as previous versions, & not getting any pop ups.

Looks like its bloating up with crap

It generates pop up windows now.

Not that often but not the kind of thing you want happening when you're PvPing in World of Warcraft
