Does anyone offer hardware/software slaes?

I used to work for a company that did everything, not very well, but they did everything.

Could this seriously offer a viable business alternative/addition to contracting? i.e. selling hardware/software to current or new clients?

The problem with selling hardware and software is the amount of money you need to spend building your stock up, you then need to sell it pretty quickly. Hardware that is out of date is pretty worthless and the depreciation is fairly high. Software isn't as bad although it's probably more economical to become a reseller at first until you have built up a customer base.

Bear in mind that when you are sourcing a hardware supplier they are not going to sell you 1 motherboard, they will be looking at selling you 25 motherboards.

Have gone with Dataflame.

Had an issue with my FTP settings from my end which their online support chat system got sorted very quickly.

So far, impressed. Time will tell if it was a good choice or not.

I've just moved the email side of one of my sites over to Google to host for me. That way I get Gmail (which I love) for my company email.

For hosting, I use an American one - PowWeb who are good, reliable and cheap.

Or I have one on Hostgator, who I'm not as impressed with - there are some things that I want to do myself that it needs a support ticket to change for Hostgator, e.g. CNAME entries, and I think Jog On had some issues with PHP on Hostgator.

Yep, it's just a bog standard POP3/SMTP setup.

Can't speak for their site building tools.

Being playing with the demo and it looks OK (long time since I did any web work)
