    The client is asking quite at bit of the CRM, eg: integration with the website and payment gateway. There are plenty of off-the-shelf solutions, but for some reason they want something very customised. Maybe they have cash to burn?

    Yeah - it's okay... BUT, if you want it to do anything even slightly out of the ordinary, it requires as much customisation as anything else.

    MyCo developed one a few months back now - PHP and MySQL - customer dead satisfied; does exactly what they asked for.

    It's available for resale if you think the MS Bloatware one is overcooking the job somewhat...

    I worked on a project creating a kind of CRM interface between Geneva billing and the database once.

    They ended up canning our year or work and bought an off the shelf solution!!

    Just because .net and Java were the latest they thought they could do a great diy job.

    In fairness, it was rather good and did the job, but, not sure it was worth a team of 10 for a year to do it!!
