Sorted, thought I would share how I have managed to get my email on a company account blocking emails.
Gone through Google and used the mobile internet site.
Select option 1 from this url.
Ok, you cannot pick up attachments, but you could forward anything you wanted to see to your work account.
This will save me camping out at Maccy D's tonight

Things like squirrelMail don't need you to have your own company mail. just a mailbox "somewhere" that you can use POP3 or IMAP to access and of course SMTP to send.
So as long as the webmail you are using also allows you to use a mail client with it, you can set this up easily.

Thanks for the replies....
Not got my company email up and running as yet, logging onto webmail.ntlworld.com - no way i can access this. Only real option is to take my lappie to Maccy D's after office hours!
Have internet wap on my phone, but get sign-in problems with the ermail. Not well supported, and figured the Mio PDa screen would be easier to view.
Ho-hum - looks like I am destined to parking up in Maccy D's after work on the nights I stay over! Sure not paying £10 access at the hotel every time!!
3G modem may be the way to go.

My Mio PDA had wireless built in. I've tried a CF wifi card in the past with an iPaq, which was more trouble than it was worth.
What about a decent mobile and connect to that? Or get a 3G modem and use that at £10 a month? Use that in the office.

Squirrelmail allows you to access a remote mailbox if I remember correctly and is generally speaking a fine piece of software.

Before you get into all that.
I would ask them if they would block your company website if that had webmail facilities.
Most companies that block webmail do so to get rid of hotmail and such. As you are a separate company, then they in all likelyhood would agree that you could access your emails on your own company website
Most hosting companies allow you to use php or some other similar technology, and there are several open source solutions that you could place on your site to allow you webmail facilities.

Wifi on a PDA
Don't laugh.
Seriously, please don't laugh.....
My client blocks webmail.
The local Maccy d's has free wifi. However, it is an intensely chavvy area, and I like a walk at lunch. Hence do not want to walk with my laptop.
I have a Mio PDa for my sat nav - the type with the satelite detector and separate sat nav software.
Would a wifi dongle work on a PDA? I have never connected this to the internet before, but it has an internet browser screen......
Nice and easy to take in my pocket and get my webmail on the move in a wifi hotspot.
Hey, don't laugh. Please.Tags: None
