Thanks all, couldnt uninstall any of them except intel wireless, uninstalled it and restarted... all working now!

Go to the Acer website and download the drivers for your ethernet network card and copy them over to your laptop and install.

Edit: I applied these updates to my Dell (running Vista) when they were released without any issues so maybe just an issue with your make/model of laptop.

I get that problem quite frequently on my laptop (running XP)
seems to come about when I use hibernate, eventually the network adapters take a huff and stop working.

Easily fixed by opening the hardware management, right clicking on the adapters and uninstalling them, then scanning for new hardware, the adapters are found and reinstalled into a working state.

Ah ok - sorry, it was the update from 14th that caused probs.. ill name it shortly, im trying to restore from 7th to stop the problem but keep getting the following:

system restore did not complete succesfully. Your computers system files and settings were not changed.

Details:
An unspecified error occured during system restore

Instead of restoring, why do you not remove all of the items with yellow triangles? On a reboot, Vista will reinstall them and maybe give you the option of pointing it to better drivers...worth a try...

I got a Vista laptop yesterday and can feel your pain.

I mentioned it to one of the permies here and he said "Why don't you do what everyone else does and just wipe it and install XP"..

have you tried just uninstalling all of the adapters, then reboot...?

just run a system restore - updated, shut down etc... but then on start up said there was an error and the system was not restored!

If you go into the properties for each NIC the driver tab should have a button that allows you to roll back the driver.

I left my dearly beloved Vista laptop at home today so I can't check if it's included - would be suprised if it wasn't.

It might ask you several times if you're sure you want to do it and still not let you do it even if you're an 'administrator'.. wouldn't suprise me
