Indeed. Strategy, as in overall generic strategy for the company in relation to infrastructure.

Need to get these processes sorted, and introduce through training.

Sounds like system testing/UAT testing I'd have a look at anything for that kind of thing, I used to be a system tester but its a real can of worms. Are they interested in the Non-function aspects of testing as well like user experience i.e. response times/look and feel etc.

They should be worried about response times etc, but a performance tool is not in place as yet!

Kind of more about the testing to do in advance of say, a router or server swap, quality controls, who signs off, and how to go about testing it once live bearing in mind no test environment for this kind of thing. Business as Usual fixes etc for live sites.

Hence not so much system testing, but can see some aspects of this. Fundamentally, not software development, so, can System Testing apply as much when there is no development, as such?

Many cans of worms....

Plan is to start off by explaining what testing is, get a firm quality gate style process with templates etc, then re-assess!

I am a software tester, and have been asked to write a training course for developers, so based this on background to Testing, and introduced aspects of Component Testing including BVA and EP.

All well and good.

However.... I was expected to deliver this also to guys who swap servers, phones, apply server patches etc. Hence now trying to convince my governance manager that we need two approaches!

Basically, I need to devise a test strategy including check-points, a framework for engineer tests, and how they would ensure changes to live work. Very different to software development testing with the safety net of a test environment to test against.

If anyone has any idea of where to look for appropriate training material / processes etc I would be very grateful.

If development, no problem. However, testing servers and live architecture is a very different animal to my bread and butter.
