Ever considered that the crappy software is not certified for XP or has not been fully tested on these new fangled processors?
Simple solution to all those with any problems with MS software. Format over it an install Linux.
What's the problem now?

Guest repliedI tried that, didn't do it. Thanks though. I think Nero does something awful lower down to ensure it's buffers don't go flat, 'cause what I see is one process buffer filling, but it is not being seen by the other process as ready.

Guest repliedIn task manager you can assign a process to a single processor.
Right click on the nero process and select 'Set Affinity'.
There is a downloadable utility to wrap an executable that will do this automagically for you but I canne remember its name.

Guest started a topic Switching off processors in multiway box under windozeSwitching off processors in multiway box under windoze
I have a multiway AMD Opteron box that I'm evaluating and it is running windows, (plus a selection of other OS at choice).
I can burn CDs from Lunix, and other OS, I can even burn CDs from Win 98. Yet I can only burn CDs from 2000 and XP when I pull three of the processors.
I want to use Aheads Nero Burning ROM software whilst in one of the newer windows, but with all the processors in the box,. Now it appears to only be able to play when a single processor is running (98) , or a proper OS is installed (Lunix etc).
Anyone know of an application in windows that can tell it to run only on a single processor, or to run an application only on a single processor, or a pointer to how to do it and then I can write the fscking thing myself.
