Any pros/cons?
Any pros/cons?
Not many of the IP Phone manufacturers are implementing RTCP correctly. Therefore, quality will be an issue running VoIP over the internet.
Spod - In "HTH" mode!

Yep, used it on a LAN and across WAN and the quality is exactly the same as regular phone. Using the internet on the other hand, can be less reliable (Guess that's why it's cheaper).

seen it done with Siemens kit over a lan and its very effective. It all depends on the quality of the network, the internet isn't dependable so you will get Dalek moments.

Only bits that I've read.
It's relatively new at the moment in the UK but BT are considering investing shedloads in the technology to replace the current switched exchanges eventually.
Only thing that would concern me would be quality - I'd want to be sure that there would be no "Dalek moments"
Anyone here subscribed to Broadband Telephone services? I'm considering switching from my local telco carrier (Swisscom, who basically have a State monopoly here) to a broadband carrier, with one of these VoIP telephones.
