I'm aware of that.
They have access to a big pipeline. They can charge what they like.

I use Hostgator who are absolutely top notch, never had a problem with them ever. Very good value for money, good Cpanel with lots of nice options - for $10 a month I can host 99 domains.
They've also got excellent support with one of those chatroom support things - never had to wait more than 1 minute for a real person to come online and answer my question very efficiently.
They're very popular in the webmaster/internet marketing world - I can't recommmend them enough! (and no that's not an affiliate link!), you can see the pricing plans here:

and to expand a little: hosting would have to include IP connectivity, power, cooling, physical security, rent for the space required to house it, costs for technicians to replace it if it fails.Originally posted by chicaneThe answer to your quandary is highlighted in bold.

E.g add extra 100gb adds £50 a month. You can buy 500gb for that.

For dedicated servers take a look at UK2, their price has always been great and recently they've overhauled their support so its much much better now.
For shared hosting there are literally hundreds of good providers out there, be sensible in what you're after and you'll be fine. (i.e. avoid 'unlimited bandwidth' offers).

Not touched reseller but as a dedicated server host they really sucked ass.

My overriding memory of the Fasthosts reseller package is the silly hidden charges they started putting everywhere when they realised that they couldn't make much money on a £50/month unlimited domains ASP/PHP package on its own.

I found it frustrating how your domains had to be managed through their sister company UKReg...meant often having to deal with two web sites and control panels. Also I had several web accounts with them that could not be managed through the same control panel...very frustrating.
plus their tech support was nothing special. overall, wouldn't recommend.

i used to use them for a while - used the shared server setup. Then one day all our websites were shut down - all i got out of them was that we had breached the T's & C's - couldn't tell me what we had done though - feck3rs!
now using webfusion quite happily

I've got an ASP.NET hosting package with them and it seems fine so far, though I haven't exactly put much stress on it or anything - it's just for self-education and trying things out. I've just got the Access database option too, which is fine for my purposes. The initial set up was very quick and easy I must say.
Will now await flood of horror stories from other punters.

I have been looking into this company, www.fasthosts.co.uk as hosting providers as they seem pretty cheap, and offer the reseller package, and was wondering does anyone here use them?
if so what are your opinions?Tags: None
