    Skype

There's a lot of hype around Skype (I should be a poet) from the Scandos who founded Kazaa. Free download I think. Couple of mates use it and reckon the quality is fantastic.

    Re: VoIP

Most ordinary internal hardware, and even some external, modems will allow you to use your PC as a phone. Doesn't matter if you're on broadband, cable or two tins and a piece of string (well maybe not that, but you know what I mean).

Dialler software usually included with modem and not difficult to setup.

If you're considering VOIP, that's another matter.

proper phone is not as easy as computer to computer voice connection, which you seem to want?

in the latter you can use MSN Messenger with built-in voice communications

I must say that I have not been up to date on Net2Phone development, but I know that there must be lots of products who allow to call phones from PC and vice versa, you can start by searching google using this link:

Using my PC as a phone

    All,

FINALLY got Broadband to my village. It's made a real difference.

I was wondering if there is some software I can use to turn my PC into a phone!. I already have the phone connected into the same line - however I have headset with mic plugged into sound card on my PC and it would be excellent to be able to use that as a phone whilst I work.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Cheers,

    Mike

Working...
