Business Objects PDF Creation

Does anyone know if the PDF creation that BO uses is based on a script/seperate exe etc or whether it is embedded in BO.

Crystal Enterprise uses a 3rd party tool, but I am not sure if BO does. I wish to recreate the combination of pdfs using a contents page.

Anyone?
