Got one in the bedroom, and will have in my new office, use it with Avia for streaming video from my NAS, IPlayer, You Tube.
Have given quite a few as gifts over the past year or so.

We've got Chromecasts in every telly.
Great bit of kit and easy enough to workaround Amazon Prime etc.

My Chromecast is great, I use it all the time with Netflix,iPlayer and have some other app for streaming videos from my PC onto the TV that I forget the name of.
Having said that, I've been reading that broadcasters have been shunning the Chromecast as not powerful enough to do live TV, and Amazon Prime won't support it either. I think maybe wait to see if one product becomes established as the one that everybody supports and then get one of those.
From ezCast website:
So clearly doesn't function the same.Q: Does EZCast dongle support Netflix/Google/iTune/BBC video streaming?
A: Due to DRM content protection design, EZCast cannot stream Netflix/Google/iTune/BBC videos directly. We are still contacting with them to see how to pass their content protection limitation, and please also send your suggestion to Netflix/GoogleVideo/iTune/BBC to help us speed up the cooperation.

Chromecast just works, is probably supported by Google (although I never needed that) and the I just upgraded the house with the v2 for the 802.11ac throughput - probably means I could stream 4k if I had any.
What's not to like?

Chromecast v ezCast dongles
Chromecast from £24 depending where you buy from (and fully refurbished for £15) v ezcast for £15.
The ezcast looks to all intents and purposes the same, functions the same and has the same kind of specs from what I can tell.
Anyone bought an ezCast? Does it do what it says on the tin or is it an inferior product compared to Chromecast and should be avoided?
I know there are other dongles out there but just looking for an opinion on these two, thanks.Tags: None
