I had a friend emigrate to Sydney about 2 years ago. He got a permie IT job. He says the hours are long and they work hard and the pay is piss poor compared to contracting in the UK, but he LOVES the lifestyle and the outdoor life.
And no Phoney Blair. Bargain.
yeah the pay isn't as good as over here, but like you say the life style is SO much better... lets face it you can't resent working long hours so much when you can spend your weekends by the pool/on the beach!
a work colleague told me jsut before that he knew someone who went over there and got a job immediately... so perhaps there is hope for me yet!!

What career/business are you going to persue in Oztralia?
IT, or just look for a rich, well hung surfer dude?
I'd love to get out of IT really but I don't know what else I'd do.
So yeah I'll probably remain in IT although I've heard it's a very competitive jobs market over there.. so I might get forced into doign somethign else... like the idea of having my own vineyard!
Deliverables. Its not the most pressured environment I've worked in.
join the club!
if it wasn't for the whole emigration thing I wouldn't be staying in this sh*thole one minute longer!
but low living costs and alright (ish) money means I can save quite a bit each month. The question is whether I can hack it for another year whilst my application gets processed!
