    I wonder if it was an alligator that led to the Challenger thing? Quite likely, I'd say - they always hush-up that sort of thing. O-Rings fracturing... I don't think so.

    In the Kennedy Space Center ( ) in Florida, they had to redesign the fences around the site to overhang outwards, as the alligators had learnt to climb the vertical fences. So when the alligators tried to climb along the overhang, their own body weight caused them to fall off. And that's a fact.

    It's well known that an alligator can outswim a human in the water.

    It's not so well know that an alligator can easily outrun a human on land.

    Therefore, if you ever find yourself up against an alligator when competing in a triathlon... you'd better build up a big lead in the cycling.
