I like the beheading option. Will substantially improve his looks...and probably his value to the project. Problem is, the guy took over from a previous PM, and it was the previous PM who said it wouldn't be a problem working from home.

They have remote outlook which I use when I fancy putting in an extra couple of hours of an evening, so he already knows I do real work at home.

I shall go and sharpen the axe now...

Are you being paid by the hour (day) or by the job.

Most managers aren't the slighest bit interested in letting hourly paid people work at home, whatever it says in the agency contract. If they are paying for your time, they want you to be in the office just in case you are needed for some other reason. This is what most managers think is a contractor, and you aren't going to change this IMHO.

Just have another chat and find out exactly why he needs you to be on site all day tomorrow when you are quite able to all the work that is required from your office. Also offer to be on MSN/E-mail/phone throughout the day so that you are easily contactable should the need arise.

He prolly thinks you are going to sit at home and do nothing and then charge a load of extra hours

Have just advised the PM (out of courtesy) that I won't be on site tomorrow, but instead will be writting up some documentation at my own office (home). He then went on some spiel about wanting his contractors to be on site. I have very calmly explained the wording in the contract (explicitly states that I can do this) and that I am not a temp, but he clearly not a happy chappy.

Any advice on calming the lad down? I get the impression he not savvy with role of contractors.
