If there is an issue getting it through, it will just be tweaked only the drones pass it and then it will be backed dated until the 6/4/17

I guess it just becomes law on 6th April before going through all the stages on the assumption that it will get passed?

Sorry to keep posting but I really would like to know how this works.

If 40% of all social workers are interims (most of which go through their own ltd company), lots of A&E emergency docs through Medacs (enough to make the current performance of 70% ish hitting the 4hour waiting target look great) & numerous gov IT projects are using contractors, then UK gov are being seriously warned about this now. Someone is screaming at the government and has been getting louder over the last few weeks.

If not getting the budget through unamended is a huge embarrassment then watching numerous Baby Ps and Victoria Climbie unravel in the press through a lack of child protection social workers or reading headlines about 12+hour trolley waits and unsafe AE departments isn't gonna be welcome either.

My thinking has been that the louder the shouting got the closer to D day might just might result in a re-think with a face-saving delay to implementation whilst they further "reviewed consultation/feedback etc."

Now I don't even know when D day is. I guess publishing it on 20 March was D Day and they just push it through parliament after it gets implemented?

It's happened before, and will happen again - the local NHS trust gets the blame, ministers might have to answer questions to the committee, work continues in the NHS as it has done under recent governments - stretched beyond belief and over run with PFI costs and management consultants.

Nothing will stop the changes coming.

Except they'll just all vote 'Aye'.

You could probably get anything through Parliament at the mo (next 2 years), while they're all focused on Brextulip.

Just realised that Parliament recesses on 30 March and doesn't return until 18th April. So does the Finance bill have to get all the way to Royal Assent before 6th April in order to become the law that is effective for that date? Or can they pass it later and back-date it to 6th April?

It just seems odd that they've only got 6 working days left to pass such a big bill?

They will push it through.

Remember that if the finance act fails, it is in effect a vote of no confidence and an election will be called.

No matter how much anyone objects to any part, the whole lot will go through.

Hi,

Sorry if this is a silly question but does this finance bill have to go through both houses and receive royal assent by 5th April in order to be law and come into effect by 6th april?

Its still showing as:

"The date for Second Reading has not yet been announced" on the house of commons and i guess that means it hasn't gone to lords yet?

Do they usually fast track these finance bills through? I guess they would already know if enough politicians were objecting to it for them to require amendments? I'm not clutching at straws here as I've pretty much resigned myself that this is a done deal but I'm just curious that there is so much left for them to do with only 11 working days left?
