One is to ignore the letters and hope it goes away but that's never a good strategy. The other is to send them a letter stating you do not accept any liability and enclose a check for say £10 for their trouble. Then its up to them if they want to pursue it further.

Originally posted by Stevie Wonder BoyOk fair point, there are implied contracts in law. But I'm pretty sure giving people the right to claim fixed amounts of money off people passing by isn't one of them. That type of implied contract is reserved for tax men.
So if there was regular action which indicated the formation of a contract, then you could be held to it if you then breach the contract.

I use the carpark pretty much every day and I just told em they could have the 3 quid happily if they wished.
They just withdrew the fine and did not even ask for the 3 quid either.

They will send various threatening letters but they will NOT take you to court.
The letters will dry up if you just ignore them.

The article about the guy who 'won' his case is misleading in the extreme.
They do actually know they can't take you to court and they don't use a firm of solicitors. It's another company owned by one of their directors which looks like a legal/debt collection firm.
Ignore and it WILL go away. The trick is being able to ignore the more threatening letters as they start arriving.
Nothing to see here !!

I think the consensus is to just ignore them and they eventually give up.
My Mrs got one parked in her friends parking place at her serviced flat in Leeds, admittedly she forget to put the wee disc in the car but we just ignored the letters and they seem to have stopped. This was about six months ago....

I *hate* the parking at the Peel Centre. Actually, I hate the whole place full stop.
Just ignore it, don't even reply. It's not a fine, it's an invoice which you don't have to pay. To get payment from you they would first have to take you to the small claims court and then win their case.
