The miners did more damage to their own communities than any coal board or tory government could ever do . The world had moved on for everyone else.

If you were to watch the documentary, you would see a contemporary news report in which Mrs Thatcher is asked at the end of the strike if she thinks there were any winners.

I always care if the good guys won, hence my question - why is it you don't want to answer [sic] very simple question?

Because there is no simple answer to that as is made clear in the documentary. For a person who is so dismissive of it you are very demanding of an answer to single trite and pointless question. Who constitutes Good guys and Bad guys is never a simple question, is it? It's also not always apparent who are the winners and losers.

I'll take your word for that, though I have no reason to doubt it. Tony Benn got more radical as he got older IIRC - he was also a great proponent of democracy.
