Having read that page more carefully, I think this is how TemptMe is supposed to work.

The owner of a property is thinking of selling up, so she posts its details on Zoopla TemptMe under its postcode, lets say SW1A 1AA.

Meanwhile, either before or after this, someone else thinks they wouldn't mind buying that particular place, as it's large enough for the family, has a nice big garden and plenty of parking space at the front etc. So they also post a Zoopla entry for it (although how they figure out its postcode isn't explained.)

So in summary, it's somewhat like two krill, chosen at random in the South Atlantic, actually bumping into each other!

I don't think estate agents have much worry about if that is indeed the model (unless Zoopla start sneakily providing public links to TemptMe details).

I'll admit the main reason we use rightmove is we look at so many properties and the most important thing for us is broadband, so having a link to estimated broadband speeds with every property helps a lot

As we're moving to the country the main things we need to know broadband speeds and looking at how close properties are to the floodplain or to mine workings etc

Interesting - I tried that, but it seemed rather more clunky and cumbersome than Zoopla. For example its map zoom doesn't appear to work very reliably, or at all usually, although besides that it may just be a case of getting used to one site before trying another.

But annoyingly Rightmove doesn't let private sellers publicly advertise their properties on it any more than Zoopla.

Didn't need to advertise myself, we had people knocking on our door wanting to put a bid in, once it was obvious we were decorating and doing up the place

    Evidently not!

Surely someone here must have heard of Zoopla!

started a topic Anyone tried Zoopla TemptMe

    Anyone tried Zoopla TemptMe

Anyone selling their place tried Zoopla's TemptMe feature.

AIUI, this allows sellers to post details of their property for sale along with a proposed price (what "TemptMe" refers to of course), which I accordingly have, after which prospective purchasers can supposedly contact them.

However, I can't now find my entry, or indeed any TemptMe button, in the relevant postcode when searching as a purchaser; so I'm wondering if this feature is still enabled.

(It doesn't seem like the kind of facility that would endear Zoopla to estate agents, if there is a risk of bypassing them, and may therefore have been removed; but that's probably just me being paranoid again )

Or perhaps I have slightly misunderstood how it is supposed to work.
