Eldest son's a **** up, and can't see any light at the end of that tunnel.

    Still, that's what wine's for...

    Salut.
You're at that time in life where you know the score, and people start turning to you for advice. This is a privilege. You should be proud of all that you have achieved. Granted still a lot of life to live, but think about the positive influence you have on others. I think your a smashing lady, and am grateful to you for your advice, and banter, and organising the CUK pissups, cycling events etc.

The next few decades will probably be more of the same to be honest, but you contribute. That alone must bring some sort of inner peace, and if it doesn't then perhaps it's high time it did.

Keep smiling, bad days / things always highlight the negatives, it'll hopefully look better in the morning ( providing hangover not too bad!).

I for one I'm rather glad I'd not live for years and years. I realise that may be the wish of some but I think it would be too much for the mind to bear. The prospect of continuing to witness the hate in the world, Syria, and so forth takes it's load upon thee. Or the 3-year old recently murdered, what state must a parent be in? Or the constant shootings in the US. I think back to my days working in the cemetery, passing stone after stone of those young ones lost in conflict. It's goes on.

You've got to see beyond your own life and make sure the next generation learns from the mistakes of the past to allow better memories to take hold.

I recall a graph during a statistics lecture whilst studying operational research. Mortality sees a sudden increase with time right after the mid-thirities. There's nothing linear about at all.

Yes indeed, make each day count.
