Yet another annoying Yahoo email feature, to add to the long list a the start of this thread, is that the summary views are always on the move as one scrolls down, because older entries are added on the fly by smart-ass Ajax updates.

Just now I was carefully scanning down my inbox for an email I remembered receiving towards the end of last year, but the moment I spotted it among the many others _BOING!_ the list was yanked away from under me and I had to start scanning all over again!

I migrated off from Hotmail and Yahoo when Gmail came along and despite countless changes to both those platforms I have never gone back. Gmail interface isnt that cool but they dont often tinker with it that much. It just works and comes with unlimited space.

gmail also does it... would be to allow these as alternative display formats - I can see collected conversations might be useful sometimes.

You can switch off "conversation view" in Gmail

This is the same woman who banned working from home at yahoo then forced the workers to use yahoo for all their email usage, that was the mistake cuz if everyone is in the office they don't need to email each other! Besides how long before she is proved wrong on the working from home bit...

It's one of those things that techies find elegant, and obviously the right way to go, but the vast majority of users find extremely confusing and non-intuitive, especially if the browser is not very responsive for one reason or other.

I've not met any "normal" (i.e. non-IT-geek) person who doesn't loathe it, and wouldn't much rather go back to using normal individual emails. Great job there of collecting customer feedback, Yahoo!

I wonder if any UX specialists are employed by these companies, if so where are they doing their research, maybe only in silicon valley?

The same problem here. There is a lot of publicity about it in the US but not the UK.

That explains a lot - really getting hacked off with the changes especially the stoopid sloguns i.e. "you are my anti spam hero" message after clearing the spam folder it's all starting to look like a mail client for 14 year olds - what are the alternatives?

Is there a way to "auto forward" everything... to Gmail ?

Gmail supports IMAP and POP3, so can you hook into your Yahoo from Gmail that way ?

WHS! Just autoforward it all over. I think you can also get Gmail to pull down all your historic mail too but also leave it on Yahoo's servers in case they ever sort their tulip out.

Anyone else using this abomination? It just gets worse with each new release!

* Can no longer download attachments in Firefox (something to do with certificates? ), even after clearing the cache and logging out and back in

* Can no longer sort by sender, on account of the new discussion thread system, which itself is annoying because emails replied to aren't listed at their original received date

* Can no longer forward an email to one's self to get message with neatly formatted headers for saving as a text file

* Patronising messages when spam folder or Trash folder is cleared ("gee, you're my anti-spam hero")

* Constantly bombs out during working hours, obviously due to heavy load on servers

* etc etc

Is there any way I can go back to classic view?!

I would start using my Google email, but I have literally dozens of subscriptions and suchlike that all use my Yahoo email address as the user ID. So from that standpoint I'm stuck with the wretched thing.

Also, I do wonder if Yahoo will even survive for all that long. If they do a Blackberry and run into the ground, then I'll somehow have to archive thousands of emails and migrate anyway.
