Would she be sacked if she refused to do it? Sounds like she needs to drive a harder bargain with the rate of pay. I'm guessing the customers are paying through the nose for service on Xmas day so someone must be making more, just not your daughter.

I'm picturing a miserable manager dressed in a Dickensian kind of way, first name Ebenezer...

No, they don't split tips. They take it in turns to front desk, so it evens out. I think kitchen staff get paid more to compensate. I suppose the incentive is to provide good service, and by sharing tips you lose that motivation.

Frau D. is doing a 14-22 shift on both the 25th and 26th so it'll be quite(ish) in our household although she will get more money for it in the way that she is taxed. I might go to the pub actually...

oh well - although it does depend on what full time staff get....as you cannot discriminate!

Finish Friday but probably won't go in and then go back whenever it is I'm meant to be back. Will probably be so bored that I'll do some WFH and just stick it on the bill...

    College and Uni students have.

    Private schools as well.

WFH over Xmas and New Year. Though may take 2nd and 3rd off because I'm lazy and normally have the full two weeks off.
