Guest repliedMany of these accounts are held by UK residents that can't get a UK credit card due to bad credit. For some, it's the only way as most things these days require a credit card.
So this is another thing that the Government have decided is a sign of someone being a tax cheat. One more reason to vote Labour.

uk taxThousands of holders of offshore credit and debit cards face investigation as the government steps up its attack on tax evasion.
HM Revenue & Customs has issued "production orders" requiring credit card companies to hand over records, according to law firm DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary.
