The article does not say what the root of the problem is. The fact being that grape growers have had grape prices forced down each year by large wine producers and as a consequence many vineyards have gone out of business. A good price for grapes is £2+ per kg, break-even is about 80p per kg wine producers have been paying 40p in the last three years.
