Been thinking abut this - have you been before?

Went there looking for property investment just before the slump. I was on the island of Sal. Absolutely idyllic with beautiful beaches. Very unspoilt. I believe they do direct flights from Manchester if you live up north.

I was also looking at Cape Verde, for a November holiday. I don't want the flat, beachy islands though (which I think is where the international airports are?). I was looking at the more mountainous ones, which may mean a bit of island hopping, which would mean needing a couple of weeks to make worthwhile, and I'm only taking 1 week.

So instead off to Evia (or Euboea) for a week, in a couple of weeks from now.

We drove but we were visiting a friend first so we went to her house for a couple of days and then back to the Efterling. We came from Hampshire so got the Ferry across. My kids loved it, they had soft play areas there and they found other kids to play with. I think it was about an hour and a half from the ferry terminal to the site but cannot remember very clearly as it was a while ago. So letting them lose on the ferry was a good break.

I don't speak French but you can easily get by if you start speaking in Welsh and when they can't answer ask whether they speak English instead, they get less offended by that.

Everyone on the site speaks fluent English but we learned some Dutch anyway. The prices are superbly cheap so my kids came back loaded down with toys etc. There is 'The Sandman' who walks around on night with various props and picks the kids up to tell them stories at bedtime, little red riding hood (the outfit that we bought there is the one my daughter wants to wear tonight) and the wolf come and talk to the kids in the restaurant etc. We are definitely going back next year!

Brilliant, thanks again, think ill stick to flying and the train, as to get to the ferry would be a 4 hour drive for us.

Excited now in a very childlike, "why cant we go NOW?!" kind of way, so best not tell offspring until the day before!

Ah bless, well that's all the endorsement I need! I did read the trip advisor reviews and they are amazing!

Flights to Schipol will still cost about the same as to CDG, but the cost of accommodation is about a quarter of what we would have paid at Eurodisney.

Can I be cheeky and ask how you got there? I'm very happy to get the train in Holland and there is one every half hour from Schipol to the main town near Efteling, is this how you did it?

This!! Thanks so much MUN, had been trying to think of something different to do on New Years Eve. With a 3 yr old we cant go out and cant get a babysitter, I was thinking about Euro Disney but the costs were EPIC, so I booked us a few days at Efteling last night, very happy!!

Awesome! You won't regret it, it is absolutely fantastic! I took my 4 year old and 18 month old there in February and the 4 year old is still talking about it!

Take him to Switzerland or Austria and strap some planks of wood to his feet. You will be amazed how quickly kids can learn to ski.
