It's not true. Christian Science Monitor says so

Google confirms that Googling 'Google' won't break Internet - CSMonitor.com

2010 - Google offers AtW £1bn for SKA. Atw says NO!
2011 - AtW has visionary idea to buy a sofa
2012 - AtW rents another flat and orders sofa
2013 - Google goes down for 10 minutes.

QED, SKA is born!

On a related note, quite an interesting article from last month when Google did go down

Google goes down for a few minutes, web traffic drops 40 percent (Wired UK)
