You said two top-flight teams at the same time. Two Burtons haven't played in that, surely?
Two earlier ones might have played together in the second division, when there were all kinds about like Gainsborough Trinity, Glossop and New Brighton.

Yes! Burton Swifts and Burton something, both in the old Div One (might be wrong on that), merged to form Burton United I think, one of them has the only winning advantage in head-to-heads against the Scum.Originally posted by TheFaQQer View PostBurton
By Scum I mean Scumchester Urinals of course, who now play in the Theatre of Wet Dreams, no bitterness there....

Bugger me they are back in the league - might not be same club but the town does have a Football League Team now...Originally posted by stek View PostNo, because it isn't!
Like saying Westhoughton is part of Bolton!
I can give a clue, it's a Midlands connection that has no league team now. Actually I'm checking that, league is so messed up even like Dagenham and Redbridge of summert are in it...

Football Question...
Bit boring but during my research into Bolton Wanderers old Pikes Lane Ground and the early days of the football league I think there has only been one English Town (i.e. not a city then or now) that has accommodated two Top-flight teams at the same time, Bolton nearly did it, sort of - Halliwell FC nearly made the first Division Two league in 1992, one town, two teams in the league....
But I think there's one Town did do it, anyone fancy a punt?
Here's Pikes Lane, circa 1892, I can tell it's 1992 because the now demolished Deane Saviours RC Church is being built on Deane Road behind......
