[QUOTE=Hart-floot]Prestwick has always been used for military operations, usually though if the US military are ferrying "cargo" to third parties they route it through Mildenhall in Suffolk - there they can do what ever they like, no questions asked. [QUOTE]True enough. They even take over whole streets of houses and turf out the local people.

I think this was a contract job to a civilian aircraft.Originally posted by expatNice little airport on the west coast of Scotland. Good microclimate, which is why planes are often diverted to there. Ryanair flights to the continent. And US shipments of 5000-lb bombs to Israel.
Hmmm. When did Prestwick airport become a US base? When did we become a US base? Have we no pride left?
Special relationship? In this relationship, we are what is technically known as the fuckee.
The Isreali's on the otherhand usually use ELAL cargo flights for their "supplies". Do you remember when that ElAL jumbo smashed into a block of flats in Amsterdam in the early 90's the local geiger counters went nuts afterwards. There was a hell of alot of discussion in Holland at the time, government enquiries, possible cover up etc, but nothing was ever proved that the plane was carrying radioactive material intended for Isreali military use.
Do ElAL still use Schiphol for all there trans atlantic flights cargo operations?

But it's in Scotland so who really cares.. but no, we have no pride left, I saw Beckett playing the timid shrew about this last night... embarrasing to watch someone so out of her depth flailing around trying to make a point without upsetting her American paymasters
